How to use wifi only disabling internet data connection / 3g / gprs on your blackberry RIM 5 6 7 device without dataplan or contract

Hello guys,

Today I’m going to show you how to use wifi only on your Blackberry device. First we set the browser to hotspot browser, so it will only work with wifi. Secondly we disabling apps to connect to the internet, by chancing some settings in tcp/ip.
WARNING: I made this tutorial last year, and had about a 100 comments. 90% said it did work, 10% said it didn’t. ALWAYS check your credit after this method, if you lost some money, reverse all the steps and don’t enjoy wifi only on your mobile.
On a RIM os 5
  • Go to your menu
  • Go to manage connections
  • Go to mobile network options
  • Make sure data service is on, make sure data while roaming is on
  • Go backto your menu
  • Go to options
  • Go to advanced options
  • Go to browser
  • Set default browser configuration to hotspot browser
  • Go back to advanced option (from the option menu)
  • Go to tcp/ip
  • Deleteeverything after APN, also uncheck APN settings enabled
  • Connect to your wifi, and enjoy your internet!
On a RIM os 6 or 7
  • Go to your menu
  • Go to manage connections
  • Go to networks and connections
  • Go to mobile network
  • Make sure data service is on, make sure data while roaming is on
  • Go back to your menu
  • Go to options
  • Go to device
  • Go to advanced system settings
  • Go tobrowser push
  • Uncheck enable push
  • Go backto advanced system settings (from the option menu)
  • Go to tcp/ip
  • Deleteeverything after APN, also uncheck APN settings enabled
  • Connect to your wifi, and enjoy your internet!

  1. I’ve done this on Bold 9900 RIM 7, and in the bb browser, it still asks to turn radio on, when then turns on the mobile network connection.

    • So when you turn on radio, automatically data services turns on? Never heard of that, I’ll look what I can do.

  2. I have Curve 9220 and when I log in to Twitter, it still asks for a data plan something. Please help. :)

    • I’m sorry I can’t help you futher. This work on RIM 5,6 and 7. Are you sure you watch the tutorial of RIM 7? Because bb 9360 runs RIM 7

  5. not working on RIM 7 on BB 9900… i tried it so many times…. but not abel to do it…
